As a social worker, advocating for mental health is so important to me. As a human being, you feeling seen, accepted, represented, and celebrated is what I aim for. Connecting with you, laughing with you, holding a space for you to cry and feel your emotions: That is where my heart is. Every time I’m asked why I became a clinician, I get shy because my answer is simple: I want to help people.
I still remember the first day of my graduate program. We were told that in a few weeks we would start seeing clients. Naturally, we all freaked out because we had no idea how to provide therapy. One professor tried to comfort us by saying, “Therapy is 80% being yourself, 20% providing interventions” (not sure if that made me feel better or worse😂).
But as time went on, I learned that she was right. The best thing I could give my clients was myself. It’s the best way to connect and build trust. And as I gained more experience, I realized something: People want to be listened to, for their voice to truly matter, to have a say, to be validated, be accepted, and to be themselves. And in this realization lies the foundation for Jurni.
What is Jurni?
Jurni is an innovative, social platform that connects mental, physical, and nutritional wellness to meet all of your needs in one place. You can create a profile and share your Jurni with the rest of our community. In the newsfeed, you can learn about mental, physical, and nutritional wellness (while sharing some laughs, of course!).
This might be my favorite part because education is so important, and everyone deserves to access education easily.
It also emphasizes the idea that education can be fun while promoting different ways of relaying information. This is a space for you to express yourself and speak your truth. If you want to connect with other members, you can send them a direct message. If you would like more individualized support, you can book a one-on-one coaching session.
On your Jurni to healing, you will be having some difficult conversations and learning some hurtful truths, but I hope this space makes your soul feel a little lighter. I hope this can be a space where you can take a break from the world and focus on your growth.
You deserve so much more than a band-aid on your wound. You deserve to heal. You deserve to be met where you are at. You deserve to have a say. You deserve to be.
And while you explore this new space, I hope you smile as the voice in your head says, “She was thinking of me when she created this,” because I really was. I don’t know where the Jurni will lead us, but I’m glad to have the light within each of you to guide the way.
